Specifically, it is very popular in the Indian State of Bihar, along with, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and some areas of Madhya Pradesh.
Chhath Puja is celebrated six days after Kali Puja, on the 6th day of the lunar month of Kartika ( October-November ) in the Hindu calender Vikram Samvat.
It is observed to worship the Sun God and his wife Chhathi Maa or Usha to seek their blessings for overall prosperity of the family.

- ଛଠ ପୂଜା / ପର୍ବ ହିନ୍ଦୁଧର୍ମାବଲମ୍ବୀ ଙ୍କ ଉତ୍ସବ ଅଟେ ।
- ଛଠ ପର୍ବ କୁ ଛଠ ବା ଷଷ୍ଠୀ ପୂଜା ରୂପେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଜଣା ଯାଏ ।
- ଛଠ ପୂଜା ବର୍ଷରେ ଦୁଇ ଥର ପାଳନ କରା ଯାଏ, ଚୈତ୍ର ମାସ ଆଉ କାର୍ତିକ ମାସ ର ଶୁକ୍ଳ ପକ୍ଷ ର ଷଷ୍ଠୀ ରେ ପାଳନ କରା ଯାଏ ।
- ଛଠ ଚାରି ଦିନ ର ଉତ୍ସବ , ଚତୁର୍ଥୀ ତିଥି , ପଞ୍ଚମୀ ତିଥି , ଷଷ୍ଠୀ ତିଥି ଆଉ ସପ୍ତମୀ ତିଥି ପର୍ଜନ୍ତ ପାଳନ କରା ଯାଏ ।
- ଛଠ ମାଁ ବା ଷଷ୍ଠୀ ଦେବୀ ଙ୍କୁ ମାତା କାତ୍ୟାନି ରୂପେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଲୋକେ ମାନନ୍ତି ।
- ଏହି ପର୍ବ ରେ ଯିଏ ବ୍ରତ ରଖନ୍ତି , ସେମାନେ 36 ଘଣ୍ଟା ପର୍ଯନ୍ତ ଅନ୍ନ ଜଳ ନ ଖାଇ ଉପବାସ ରଖନ୍ତି ।
- ଛଠ ପୂଜା ଭଗବାନ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଙ୍କ ଉପାସନା ର ପର୍ବ ।
- ଛଠ ପୂଜା ବିହାର , ଝାରଖାଣ୍ଡ , ପୂର୍ବ ଉତ୍ତର ପ୍ରଦେଶ , ନେପାଳ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ରେ ପାଳନ କରା ଯାଏ ।
- ଛଠ ପର୍ବ ର ବର୍ଣନା ଋଗ ବେଦ ରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଙ୍କ ପୂଜନ ଅଥବା ଉଷା ପୂଜନ ର ନାମରେ ଉଲ୍ଲେଖ ମିଳେ ।
- ଛଠ ପୂଜା ର ମହା ପର୍ବ ଫିଜୀ , ମରିଶଶ , ଆଉ ଟବାଗୋ ଆଦି ଦେଶ ରେ ବହୁତ ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧା ର ସହିତ ପାଳନ କରା ଯାଏ ।
