Welcome to Food Poems on World Food Day, which is celebrated on 16 October every year. I have written three poems related to food. I have expressed my feelings in simple English. Food poems on World Food Day should force us to think seriously about food, food security and food supply etc.
Let us all be aware that nearly 98% of global hunger exists in under developed countries. Also let us not forget that food is a fundamental human right. World Food Day ensures nutritious diets and food security across the globe.
Three poems that I have written in honor of World Food Day have different titles as given below…..
- We can care – We can share

WE CAN CARE – WE CAN SHARE
Food is the need of everyday
Without food how can one live, survive or stay?!
The naked truth is very much painful
Everyday many man and woman struggle
To feed their children a simple meal
Forget about nutritious meal
So sad, they sleep hungry without any meal.
This world of ours, produces enough food
Our world can feed everyone.
Alas! It’s painful, it’s unbearable
Millions of people go to bed without food every night.
Why this should happen?
When we produce enough food grains
Can we not care?
Can we not share?
Can we not think together?
Can we not solve together?
When we have enough food grains to feed the entire world.
Food is the need of every day
Without food, how can one live, survive or stay?
There is no scarcity of food
Still people stay hungry!
For this can we blame any one?
Can we put responsibility on any one?
Can the poor be bold enough to force their Government to feed them?
The questions are tricky
The questions are painful
The answer has to be found out
We all…the entire world should be responsible
We all have to find solutions
For dignity and honor of this world.
Let us not play with the lives
Let us love life
Few thing that we all can do….
We can practically care
We can practically share
We can be compassionate
We have to empathize and donate
To help the poor, to help the needy
We should always be ready
No one should waste or throw food
Let us think of millions that don’t get food
Let us do something to eradicate hunger for ever
Let us always believe….
We can care and we can share
If we all think alike
Hunger and poverty can be defeated
This world can be a better place to live in…….

THE WORLD IS PROGRESSING AND GLOBAL POOR ARE CRYING
The world is progressing and global poor are crying
The reasons are many
May be political, may be religious, ethnic etc. etc.
This world is very competitive
Everybody is very much active and reactive.
The world is progressing and global poor are crying
People want to increase their pace
They want to do many things
They even want to go to space
Want to settle down in new planets.
The world is progressing and global poor are crying
People are running after accumulating wealth and more wealth
For wealth, they even neglect their health.
The world is progressing and global poor are crying
All are after profit and more profit
Profit orientation is high
For wealth, name and fame
Even they want to die!
The world is progressing and global poor are crying
The world is very much competitive
Everybody is very much active and reactive
People want to be celebrity
Want to have new identity.
Yes – no harm in new identity and new progress
Progress in all sphere is welcome
But, please think at what cost?
Again, it is so sad – it is so painful
Progress and growth is only for few.
It is so sad – it is so painful
Exploitation is taking place in new form and new shape
Poor people are misplaced
Poor becoming poorer
Rich becoming richer
At whose cost?
At what cost?
At whose support?
Many have to ask these questions
Many, many more have to find the answers.
The world is progressing and global poor are crying
The world is very much competitive
Everybody is very much active and reactive
We all know
Asking questions is very vital and important
But, taking action is more vital and most important
We have lot to do as individual as well as group, society or country.
On this World Food Day
Let us please think about the global poor
We can be happy
There is no scarcity of food in the world
The food produced can feed the entire population of the world
Even after that there will be surplus
But what an irony !
It is so sad – it is so painful
Many people sleep without food in the night.
Shall we not think about this basic need
Shall we not show our concern about our fellow human – beings
How can we boast about our progress?
How to justify about our thinking to settle down in new planet?
What is the real condition of this planet?
Please think whether these questions should be asked or not?
Dear Friends!
Tell me….
Who is concerned about global poor?
Is it the responsibility of the wealthy?
Is it the responsibility of World Food Programme or World Food Organization?
Can the Organization alone eradicate poverty?
Dear Friends!
All these questions are to be answered
Should we tolerate acute global food insecurity?
No, Dear Friends! No, No, No
We all together should find solutions
We should not allow children and people to be affected by malnutrition
The surplus nutritious food should be distributed.
Dear Friends!
Please think over….
What type of progress we want to see
Can we not have a holistic progress?
Can we not have smiling world?
Can we not have a healthy, wealthy, smiling and satisfied world?
Yes friends! Yes – we can do it
Let us empathize with the global poor
Just participate and follow the guide lines and mission of World Food Day
Let us help and allow every global citizen to live with dignity and honor.

PLEASE THINK OVER….
The world produces enough food
The world can feed the entire population of the world
Please think over….
Why and How many people in the world sleep hungry everyday?
Is wastage of food as one of the main reason of global hunger
Or, poor supply and distribution system the main reason?
Whatever it may be
Let us feel sorry for the wastage
Let us also think over and be concerned about…
Wastage of around 40% of food grains due to lack of storage infrastructure
This is so sad, but this is true and this is the fact.
Please think over….
What will be the impact of
Climate change and global warming on agriculture
We know bad days are ahead
Again, we should feel ashamed
We are not doing much
Rather, we are exploiting the nature.
Please think over….
About global hunger, lack of nutritious diets and food security
When there is so much scientific development in agriculture.
Please think over….
Nearly 5 million children die annually due to malnutrition
That too in developing countries
More than 20 million children suffer from acute malnutrition
In Africa and South – East Asia.
The entire world citizen….
Please think over seriously and meaningfully
Should we allow this to continue?
Should we take fruitful and practical action
To achieve zero hunger target by 2030
Let us think over seriously
Let us contribute whatever possible smilingly
Let us see a happy world
Let us see a dignified world.
CONCLUSION:-
Hope, you liked the food poems on world food day. The poems call for united action to beat the hunger, to eradicate hunger globally.
People across the globe should join hands together to eradicate world wide hunger. Our main focus is to reach zero hunger across the globe by 2030. Our aim is also to eradicate chronic food deprivation.
We see that in-spite of all scientific development in the field of agriculture and improvement in food production, still people die of starvation. Global report says that 4 billion matric tons of food are produced every year. This is more than enough to feed every man, woman and child in the world. But, one – third of global food producer’s work get wasted. We all have to do a lot to reach zero hunger by 2030. This can be possible by political as well as social will. Let us be united and contribute our best.
