THE MEANING OF GANESH:-

Gan means group. The Universe is a group of atoms and different energies. This universe would be in chaos if there was no supreme law governing these diverse groups of entities. The Lord of all these groups of atoms and energies is Ganesh. He is the supreme consciousness that pervades all and brings order in this universe.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT LORD GANESH:-

Lord Ganesh is also spelled as Ganesha. There are many specialties about him. He is also called as Ganpati. He has also many other names. He is elephant- headed Hindu God of beginnings, who is traditionally worshiped before any major enterprise and is the patrons of intellectuals, bankers, scribes and authors….like a rat and like an elephant, Ganesha is a remover of obstacles.

SOMETHING ABOUT GANESH CHATURTHI:-

Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi, or Vinayak Chaviti is a Hindu Festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/ Gauri.

As per Gregorian calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi falls between 22 August and 20 September every year. It begins on the fourth day ( chaturthi ) of the month of Bhadrapada ( August- September ), the sixth month of the Hindu calendar.

The festival starts with the installation of clay idols of Ganesh, privately in homes and publicly in pandals ( temporary stages ). Shri Bal Gangadhar Tilak popularly known as Lokmanya Tilak started this in open pendals in Pune in the year 1893.

For this festival, observations include chanting of Vedic hymns and Hindu texts such as prayers and vrata ( fasting ). Prasada (sweets) such as Modaka is offered to the deity in daily prayer. This prasada is distributed from the pandals to the community. Modaka is believed to be a favourite of Lord Ganesh.

The festival comes to an end on the tenth day. Then immersion ceremony is held. Idol is carried in a public procession with music and group chanting. Idol is immersed in a near by pond, river, sea or any water body.

In Mumbai itself around 1,50,000 statues or idols are immersed annually. There after the clay idol dissolves and Ganesh is believed to return to Mount Kailash to Parvati and Shiva.

The festival celebrates Lord Ganesh as the God of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles as well as the god of wisdom and intelligence.

This festival is observed throughout India, especially in the states such as Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, Chhatisgarh, Tamilnadu etc.

Ganesh Chaturthi is also observed in Nepal, and by the Hindu diaspora elsewhere such as in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Surinam, other parts of the Carribean, Fiji, Mauritius, South Africa and Europe. We can very well say that this festival has presence in the important parts of the world.

JAI GANESH DEVA AARTI LYRICS IN HINDI
