I wish you a great month of May. May best of best happen in your life in this month of May. Let this be a memorable and one of the best months in your life. Now let us try to know something about this month of May.
Something about May :
As we all know May is the 5th month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and the third of seven months to have a length of 31 days. May is a month of spring in the Northern hemisphere and autumn (fall) in the Southern hemisphere. It is said that this is the month when plants really start to grow.
It is claimed that May comes from “aperire”, a latin word meaning “to open”, because this period represents the opening of buds and flowers in spring. Some others still think that May was named after Greek Goddess Maia as earth Goddess of growing plants. In Roman culture it is referred as Bona Dea, Goddess of fertility.
During this period in the North hemisphere, spring is gradually blooming into summer. In the South hemisphere it celebrates the beautiful colours of autumn and its harvest.
Our great country India is in the Northern hemisphere. The summer has already started. In the month of May we have various types of festivals in our country. For our own benefit let me highlight some of the important festivals in the month of May.
