STORY
BE PERSISTENT AND GET FULL RESULT
Once in a village in India, lived a wealthy merchant named Dhana Seth who had great faith in God. One day when he was returning from his work place to the village, he saw a shining stone on the way.
The merchant liked that stone very much and picked it up. On his way back he thought, “I can get a beautiful idol of God carved from this beautiful stone and place it in my home.
With this intention, Dhana Seth went to a famous sculptor shop and said, “I want you to carve a beautiful God from this stone”.
The famous sculptor said, “Sure, you can come back after a week to collect your carved idol”.
Just after the merchant left, immediately the sculptor started his work. He took his tools and as soon as the sculptor hit the stone, he realized that stone was very hard.
The sculptor stuck again with full strength but the stone did not budge. Now, the sculptor got worried. He continued to hammer and hammer that beautiful stone did not break.
The sculptor tried for several days , put lot of effort and worked 99% from his side trying to carve that stone but he could not break the stone. Perhaps that 1% would have done the wonder.
After a few days when the wealthy merchant came back to collect or receive the carved idol, the sculptor told him that he was not able to make idol with this stone as it was too hard. It can be said that the sculptor surrendered and gave the stone back to the wealthy merchant.
The merchant became very very sad and left with the stone.
Later, the merchant went to another shop and asked the new sculptor to make idol from the same stone.
The new sculptor took up his tools and started hitting the stone to cut it, as soon as sculptor stuck first hammer on stone, it immediately broke as it was greatly weakened by hits of the first sculptor. Alas! The first sculptor surrendered before the last strike. If he would have given one more strike he could have broken the hard stone and he could have carved the idol of the God. The first sculptor was one strike short of success.
The wealthy merchant Dhana Seth was very happy to see this progress and later the sculptor carved a beautiful idol of the God from that stone.
After receiving the beautiful idol, on his way back the merchant thought of the condition of the first sculptor, how he worked very hard and worked 99% but finally got tired and gave up. He could not remain persistent till the end. If he would have given one more strike, he would have succeeded.
From this story we understand that to get cent percent, 100% result, we have to be persistent till the end. Let us not surrender till we achieve our goal. Let us learn to be persistent, let us not surrender before the last strike. Let us be persistent and get full result.
